Blackberry Launchers

So my good friends Jason and John over at BerryScoop.com just did a great re-design on their site. In the process they were moving some things around their hosting account and happened to lose their launcher. So Jason hit me up a couple of days ago and asked me to help them out. After I finished up the launcher I asked Jason to send me a little write-up for you guys…

BerryScoop.com was started with the intention of being a site that covered all things RIM, with our own twist on the stories. Almost a year later we have evolved into site that covers more than just RIM and BlackBerry’s, but we also cover other tech news. This new freedom to write about anything tech has opened a door full of possibilities for BerryScoop. We have a lot of fun reviewing products, talking with developers, running contests, and blogging in general. We have made a lot of great contacts and met some amazing people in our short existence, and look forward to what the future holds. We welcome you to join us on our journey.

I really hope you guys head on over there and check out their site. It’s one of my favorite BlackBerry and technology sites, and Jason and John couldn’t be nicer guys. So snag the new launcher from me, or head on over there and get it.

Where is my Launcher?!?!

Posted by: phikai In: Site News

Busy

I’m sure there are some of you out there wondering what’s going on and where the launcher you requested ages ago is…so I thought it might be good for me to let everyone know!

CLIFF NOTES: I’m really busy and don’t have much time to work on these anymore…they come when they come…

The longer story is…I’m SLAMMED! When the site was originally started…pre-blog days, I wasn’t this busy. My work afforded me the luxury of working on these fairly regularly and the site was pretty simple to maintain when it was just a simple list. As time moved on I had a few requests from people that wanted to know which launchers were new and asked me what I could do about it. I thought about it for a long time and thought a blog might be the best way to handle this…

My traffic prior to the re-launch was minimal…I was seeing about 200 unique hits a day, and requests were maybe 1 to 5 a week…pretty easy to maintain that. When I decided to switch to the blogging format I did a little “Hey, go look at the ‘new’ EDL Industries.” on twitter…needless to say the response was OVERWHELMING. On the day the Blackberry Blogs announced that I had re-designed and re-launched I received almost 10k unique hits. The requests also went through the roof…

Checking the account that handles all the launcher requests I’m showing about 600+ that have been fulfilled and completed since then…and I’m currently sitting with about 60 in the queue waiting to be completed as well. So the re-launch and support from the community has been great.

———————————————————————–

Let me start by saying…I’ve been thrilled with the response that you…the community/readers/users have had. I didn’t expect the response to be so huge…and it’s great…SO THANK YOU!!! I’d really like to thank those of you that have donated money to support me and this site. This is really helpful…and I’ll touch on this more in a bit.

Next, My life has changed pretty drastically since the site re-launch. My work…the job that pays my bills…has gotten busy. This has drastically reduced my time to work on and produce the launchers. I also went back to school to pursue my MBA in the beginning of August. This is pretty much a time sink, so it’s reducing my development time even more.

So with all of that being said…I haven’t forgotten about you guys or the launchers that have been requested…my time is just stretched thin right now… I will certainly be getting to them…at some point in time…I just can’t give you dates on when I’ll be working on them.

donate

HOWEVER, my major hurdle in development right now is that my RIM signatures for applications as well as the computer I develop on are at my work office. I obviously can’t spend all my free time (night, weekends, etc…) at work working on launchers for you guys. So I’ve been working on saving the donations and putting money aside slowly to buy a new laptop that I’ll be moving all the development stuff to. I’m asking you guys to help with a final push to help me get there. Any amount that you can donate, large, small or otherwise really helps…it all helps.

I’m going to keep taking requests…but please be patient as I’m not sure when they will be completed. The sooner I get a new laptop setup, the sooner I’ll be able to start working on these when I’m on the road or at home.

Thanks for all the support…and have fun with the launchers that are there for now!

Berry-Codes
berrycodesbarcodes

Tossing out the feature on this one to @cipriani15’s BerryCodes.net. I was gonna write something about it…but I decided I’d let him talk it up:

BerryCodes is a site which gives users the ability to create their own unique barcodes which can be scanned with BlackBerry Messenger 5. Users can create emails, open websites, open gps locations and much more just by creating and sharing barcodes. BerryCodes also plans on releasing some low cost applications to enhance the BlackBerry in the near future.

There you have it…snag the launcher and be prepared for the FUTURE!!!

I was given the opportunity to create a launcher for the fine folks over at CEOExpress.com and they’ve been some of the best people to work with and support. I asked them to write something up for me so that you guys could see for yourself and go check it out.

Tossing out the feature on this one to NOLA Eats. Just by itself it makes me really hungry…and knowing some of the great food available makes me even more hungry.
